Curtain Styles and Measuring

Lined curtains have body and weight as well as excluding light and improving insulation. Cotton sateen which is 100% cotton and a tightly woven fabric is used and available in ivory which has excellent colourfastness to light and can be dry cleaned.

Interlined curtains provide a more luxurious look and feel and can be interlined with either Natural Cotton Domette ( medium weight) or Natural Cotton Bump (heavy weight), both having sound and heat insulation

Blackout lined curtains exclude light and are ideal for baby and children’s rooms.

Headings are in the pencil pleat style and come in 75mm or 150mm deep tapes which have woven pockets to prevent sagging over time and multiple hook positions. I recommend curtains up to a length of 2.5m have either a 75mm tape at the top or 25mm down from the top of the curtain or a 150mm tape placed either at the top or 50mm down from the top of the curtain.

Firstly you need to measure rail length or window width. This will determine how many widths of fabric a pair of curtains will need. Secondly you will need to measure the drop of your curtains either to the sill, below the sill or to the floor. The measurement is taken from the point at which the hook attaches to the curtain rail or pole.
